You mentioned a certain Margaret MacDonald as the authoress of the pre-tribulation rapture belief. My research shows that she was well-known in the early 1800s and was then more or less forgotten for a long time until historian Dave MacPherson re-discovered her in the 1970s and has written some books about her and later promoters of that rapture. Interestingly, MacPherson lives in Monticello, Utah and also works for a newspaper there and is in his seventies. Yes, 1830 was truly a monumental year! Calvin

You have a most interesting blog, for sure. You touched on the pretrib rapture origin. You may be aware that historian Dave MacPherson, who's spent several decades researching the same origin and early development, is a resident of Monticello, Utah. His numerous Google contributions include "Pretrib Rapture Diehards," "Pretrib Hypocrisy," and "Famous Rapture Watchers." You may also know that his bestselling book "The Rapture Plot" (see Armageddon Books) is 300 pages of documentation of hitherto unknown facts that he has uncovered in libraries on both sides of the Atlantic (see his "Scholars Weigh My Research"). His historical findings, embarrassing to pretrib rapture defenders, have caused many to abandon that 19th century escapist view, according to Canadian prophecy writer Grant Jeffrey, one of its most vocal defenders! Thanks for your great blog. Bruce
