Precisamos ajudar !

Se estamos interessados na obra missionaria na Internet aqui esta uma grande oportunidade para participar. Todo membro tem uma testemunho da Igreja e deveria estar ansioso para compartilha-lo. Ainda mais se for um membro timido, não tem mesmo desculpa. Escrever na frente do computador não e’ tão dificil !

A Fundação para o Melhor criou um novo website chamado MormonTestimonies (Testemunhos Mormons) que reunira’ os testemunhos dos membros de A Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Últimos Dias ou Igreja Mórmon. Temos uma seçcão em Portugues e desejamos que todos os que podem escrever neste belo idioma nos ajudem a encher o website de testemunhos.

Os membros da Igreja Mórmon são convidados a escrever seus testemunhos ou outras informações interessantes sobre suas estacas ou alas. Este é um web site para membros fieis da Igreja Mórmon e para aqueles que estiverem sinceramente interessados em saber mais sobre a Igreja.

In Brasile dal 1996 al 1999 ho finalmente avuto la possibilita’ di studiare all’ universita’ e di diplomarmi in Scienze Sociali. Nell’ ultimo anno di scuola pero’ ho cominciato a considerare l’ opportunita’, suggerita da alcuni dirigenti della Chiesa Mormone, di applicare per fare un Master in Business Administration (MBA) all’ Universita Brigham Young (BYU) in Provo, Utah, negli Stati Uniti.

Inizialmente mi era sembrata una idea un po’ matta dato che a quel tempo la mia conoscenza della lingua inglese era minima, e per poter essere accettato nell’ MBA avrei dovuto studiare inglese e passare due tests, il TOEFL, e specialmente il GMAT, un test molto impegnativo persino per persone di lingua inglese.

Mi ricordo ancora l’ effetto che mi fece la prima volta che vidi un libro di esercizi per prepararsi per fare il GMAT. Mi ricordo la terribile senzazione di incompetenza. Aprii il libro, detti un’ occhiata, e richiusi il libro pensando, “non e’ per me”.

Malgrado quella sensazione iniziale, con il passare del tempo comiciai a sentire che era una sfida che dovevo accettare. Mi resi conto che c’ era una ragione per cui inizialmente l’ Anziano Zwick, del Primo Quorum dei Settanta, mi aveva fatto sapere di questa possibilita’, a richiesta del Presidente della Missione Marilia in Brasile, al tempo in cui servivo come consigliere della stessa missione. Eravamo tutti e tre in macchina, andando a una conferenza del Palo di Maringa’, e per qualche ragione il Presidente della Missione disse che ero insoddisfatto con il mio corso in Brasile e che pensavo di andare a studiare negli USA. Il Presidente Zwick mi disse che c’ erano delle borse di studio per fare un master alla BYU, ma che sarebbe stato molto meglio che io prima finissi il corso che stavo facendo (a quel punto mi mancavano ancora due anni per finire).

Nell’ anno seguente ottenni piu’ informazioni sulla possibilita’ di fare un MBA alla BYU. Molti mi dissero che non sarei mai riuscito, altri mi incoraggiarono. Dopo molta ricerca la decisione finale fu presa, come spesso accade per i membri della Chiesa Mormone, durante un viaggio al Tempio di S. Paolo, in Brasile. Erano probabilmente gli ultimi mesi del 1998. In giorno in particolare, dopo aver meditato e pregato a lungo, senti’ che dovevo avere fede che in qualche maniera ci sarei riuscito. Decisi di telefonare al fratello Amorim, che sapevo essere in possesso delle ultime informazioni di cui avevo bisogno e il suo incoraggiamento mi aiuto’ molto.

Una volta presa la decisione, l’ unica cosa che mancava era…studiare e studiare…

Mi ricordo che feci il mio piano con mete chiare riguardo al tempo in cui avrei dovuto finire la preparazione. Una cosa chiara per me era che volevo fare i tests soltanto una volta. Non volevo fare come alcuni che tentato lo stesso test varie volte finche’ passano (o rinunciano). La ragione era per evitare lo scoraggiamento e evitare di pagare le tasse di iscrizione varie volte, dato che erano care (in dollari).

Di nuovo, dopo molta meditazione e preghiera, decisi che avrei dovuto essere pronto per cominciare l’ MBA nell’ agosto dell’ anno 2000. Per poter cominciare in agosto del 2000 con certezza, sapevo che avrei dovuto passare i tests e sottoporli alla BYU prima del gennaio 2000. In questo momento non mi ricordo esattamente le date, ma penso che decisi di fare il Toefl in marzo del 1999 (alcuni mesi dopo aver preso la decisione) e poi il GMAT in Ottobre del 1999…continua.

There is a new site that we have launched at the More Good Foundation,  Mormon Testimonies. It uses wiki software so that everybody can access and create his/her own page. We hope that hundreds of thousands of members will use this opportunity to write their conversion stories or other interesting information about their wards and stakes.

The testimonies can be classified by geography, alphabetically, or by generations in the Mormon Church. However, even those who limited internet skills can post their testimony.

Perhaps wards or groups in a ward can coordinate their efforts and help those who still can’t use the Internet easily.

Are Mormons Christians? Yes they are, according to the Mormons. But why many other Christians insist that the Mormons are not Christians?

I think that the problem is that those Christians thinks that they have the right to judge others. C. S. Lewis said:”It is not for us to say who, in the deepest sense, is or is not close to the spirit of Christ. We do not see into men’s hearts. We cannot judge, and are indeed forbidden to judge. It would be wicked arrogance for us to say that any man is, or is not, a Christian…”

So, those “Christians” are they really showing a good Christian example? Probably not, since they are judging mercilessly other good people. I hope they remember that they will be judged with the same measure they judge others, but I hope that they will be judged with more mercy than they use for the Mormons!

Anyway, what is it that makes these Christians nervous about the Mormons? What kind of Jesus or God do they like? Well, they like the God created by the early Christian councils when men tried to harmonize revealed doctrine with Greek philosophy.

You want to read something fun? This is what Celsus, the famous anti-Christian writer of the second century stated: ” The Christians say that God has hands, a mouth, and a voice; they are always roclaiming that ‘God said this’ or ‘God spoke’… I can only comment that such a God is no god at all, for God has no hands, mouth, nor voice, nor any characteristics of which we know. And they say that God made man in his own image, failing to realize that God is not at all like a man, nor viceversa; God resemble no form known to us…We know that God is without shape, without color…”

So, this is fun… the early anti-Christians closely resemble the current Christians in their attacks against the true knonwledge; the current Christians use the same anti-Christian reasoning against the Mormons. So, who are the most Christians, currently? The Mormons who believe what the early Christians believed, or the current Christians who believe what the old anti-Christians believed?

I think that the answer is easy. It doesn’t matter how you call yourself, if you use anti-Christian reasoning, you probablky are not a real Christian…at least from a doctrinal point of view.

However, I hope that the current Christians (who doctrinally resemble the anti-Christians of the past) will follow, honestly and sincerely, what they understand about Christ and God. If they will do it at their best, I am sure that the true God will teach them and help them understand that the Mormons really are (at least doctrinally) the truest Christians.
