    The bulk of white people in the South thought it was wrong for blacks to have equal rights. Against the wishes and beliefs of the majority of white Southerners, Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights legislation. It was the right thing to do, but it would have never happened had those southerners gotten their bigoted way.

    This is a matter of civil rights and not discriminating against a group of people.

    Did you know that Joseph Smith ran for president on the platform, among other things, of gaining religious and CIVIL rights for the Saints and others. Check out the blog here on 7/7:
    “Joseph Smith said on February 8, 1844:
    I would not have suffered my name to have been used by my friends on anywise as President of the United States, or candidade for that office, if I and my friend could have had the privilege of enjoying our religious and civil rights as American citizens…But this as a people we have been denied from the beginning. Persecution has rolled upon our heads from time to time…. because of our religion; and no portion of the government as yet stepped forward for our relief. And in view of these things, I feel it to be my right and privilege to obtain what influence and power I can, lawfully, in the United States, for the protection of injured innocence.”

    Joseph was martyred, in part, for standing up for civil rights. You should stand up for protecting the civil rights of all, too.

    The question is not civil rights, the question is to redefine what a marriage is. Marriage is between a man and a woman. If they change this definition the consequence will be terrible for society.

    If you take a look at this video you can see that it is not something comparable to civil rights, it is something of a different nature
